Important things about travelling....

MAKE SURE YOU ASK YOUR CONSULTANT

It's important that you check with them, a) that you can fly and b) that they don't need you.

Also consider travel vacines and drugs (ie: malaria) and how close to treatment you can have these.

 GET TRAVEL INSURANCE

Insurance won't cover anything that might be related to an undisclosed medical issue. These tumours affect balance and so even just falling over you may not get to claim. Be really sure. My insurance is so reasonable, before and after my surgery. It means I can have an accident that might be tumour based from balance etc and I will be covered.     (Check out the links page)

 USE THE TIME WISELY

Use being away to make yourself really healthy. Especially if you are pre-surgery. Eat well, get rest and try and see your new diagnosis in a better light. Don't see this as your 'bucket list' see its just time away for you. From appointments and explanations! It's really hard because it's just miserable but try to process some of it BUT do something to distract you whilst you are away so that it relaxes you.

REALLY CONSIDER WHERE IS BEST TO GET AWAY TO & WHAT IT MEANS

Some people I have spoken to just went away around home for a few days. Just to get away. Some just spent time with the kids without interuptions. I obviously went abroad to do something I loved, others just stay at home and take time to themselves. Whatever it is or how you choose to get away, taking a bit of time for yourself to process this and understand it is so important. How can you help the others if you've not helped yourself understand first.
